Dr. Avraham Ashkenazi, Principle Investigator
Dr. Ashkenazi performed his Ph.D. studies at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel and was awarded The Elchanan E. Bondi Memorial Prize for his Ph.D. In 2013, Dr. Ashkenazi joined the laboratory of Prof. David Rubinsztein at University of Cambridge, UK as a Postdoctoral Fellow supported by the FEBS Long Term Fellowship. In 2017, he received the FEBS Distinguished Young Investigator Award. He joined the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel as a Senior Lecturer in July 2018. Avraham also likes to cycle, do art drawing and spend time with the family.

Dr. Yevgeny Berdichevsky, Senior Research Associate, and Lab Manager
Dr. Berdichevsky graduated his B. Sc., M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel-Aviv University, Israel. Yevgeny performed his Ph.D. studies in the field of Biotechnology and Antibody engineering. Yevgeny worked as a senior research associate at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University as well as a project leader in Israeli biotech startup companies in the field of CAR-T cell therapy and CRISPR. Yevgeny also likes reading books, combat training and photography

Margarita Galves, M.Sc. student
Margarita Galves graduated her B.Sc degree in Biotechnology from Hadassah Academic College (Jerusalem, Israel). In 2018, Margarita joined our lab. Margarita spends her spare time reading books, travelling and spends time with her friends and family.

Fatima Sarsour, Ph.D student
Fatima graduated her B.Sc degree in pharmacy from Petra University (Amman, Jordan) and worked as a pharmacist. In 2018, Fatima completed her Master's studies at Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University on "treatments of Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity in mouse models". In 2019, Fatima joined our lab. Fatima spends her spare time with the family. She also likes travelling and sport.

Lior Dolev, M.Sc. student
Lior Dolev graduated with a B.Sc. degree in pharmacy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Jerusalem, Israel). In 2020, Lior joined our lab. Lior also likes to edit videos, read books and spend time with his friends and family.

Hasan Ishtayeh, Ph.D student
Hasan Graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and went on to do a Masters in Genetics in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating in 2021. During his graduate studies, he investigated “Long intergenic non-coding RNA Roles in the Germline” and presented his project in a poster at the Eilanit conference in Eilat in 2020. During this conference, he attended a lecture by Dr. Ashkenazi and became interested in the Ashkenazi Lab at TAU.
In his free time, Hasan enjoys cycling, reading fantasy books and playing tedious and overly complicated video games.

Stav graduated with her B.Sc. in Biology and Life Science from Tel Aviv University in 2018. In her M.Sc., Stav graduated in the honors program of Clinical Neuroscience at Sagol School and investigated “the influence of mitochondrial activity on excitotoxicity in A-T”. In 2020, Stav joined the lab as a Ph.D. student supported by a scholarship from The Aufzien Family Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease. Stav loves to spend time with her family and friends, play squash and travel.
Tania graduated in 2020 with her B.Sc. in biology with a focus in neuroscience from The Pennsylvania State University as a part of the Millennium Scholars Program. Throughout her undergraduate studies Tania focused on two main research projects: how oxidative stress and mitochondrial abnormalities contribute to polycystic kidney disease, and conversion of human glioblastoma cells into neurons using a xenograft mouse model. Tania joined our lab in 2020. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, and traveling.

Yarden Kleinberger - M.D. student
Yarden started her studies in Sackler Faculty of Medicine - Tel Aviv University in 2020. Yarden joined our lab as part of a research program in her second year. In her spare time, Yarden loves traveling, reading, doing yoga and spending time with her friends and family.
